We continue our Open House series in 2016 with Solafrica, a Swiss NGO active in Africa, training local professionals and developing small-scale businesses on solar technology. Their goal? Assist rural areas in Africa to meet their growing energy demands, in a self-sufficient way and with lower carbon emissions. What are their results so far, after 6 years of activity in 3 different countries?
Join us for a very promising evening discussion and informal ápero on promoting access to energy, entrepreneurship and development.
The Open House events are a meeting point for professionals and people with an interest in the fields of Sustainability, NGOs and Philanthropy. On each session, visitors can enjoy a short presentation by an organisation selected by SUSTINOVA and, during an informal Apéro, the opportunity to connect and discuss face-to-face the work of the organisation and other overarching issues. For more information on this event series, please read here.
Founded in 2009 in Bern, Solafrica is an NGO tackling the energy challenge in Africa by promoting solar energy and energy efficiency through a mix of capacity-building, promotion of entrepreneurship and investment in a sustainable energy supply. Their approach:
