Summary

NGOs are confronted with multiple challenges, be it changes in the preferences of high-profile donors or limited resources to develop their own organisation.
Building on the input from our team and invited speakers with experience in the area, we will explore real-life cases and how your organisation can build practical solutions
The workshop is aimed primarily at NGOs active in the area of Sustainability. However, we are aiming to have attendants from the grant-making and support side as well, to enrich the exchange.

The challenges of increasing internal efficiency
  • Short intro by SUSTINOVA team:
    - Findings and highlights of best practices from the study on philanthropy and project development
  • Joint discussion with invited NGOs on adoption of quality programs and other internal improvement measures

15:15 Session 2:
Developing entrepreneurial approaches to projects
  • Short intro by SUSTINOVA team:
    - Basic concepts on entrepreneurship
    - The donors’ perspective (rise of Social Entrepeneurship and Venture Philanthropy)
    - Impact on project beneficiaries (help for self-help, etc)
  • Presentations by invited NGOs:
    - applying the entrepreneurial approach (10 mins each).
  • Joint exercise: "How can my NGO develop and benefit from entrepreneur-like projects"?
  • Q&A with invited speakers and discussion of exercise highlights
16:45 Presentation of SUSTINOVA platform prototype
  • Short presentation of concept and objectives
  • Q&A
17:30 Closing
  • Informal follow-up in Volkhaus’ Bar (open-ended)

Registration

Cost per organisation is dependant on number of attendants: 1/2/3/4 people = CHF 90/150/200/240.
Please register (and your colleagues) until January 10, 2014 using the form below.
A confirmation will be sent by email.

Attendance is open but limited to room capacity.
Participants also have the possibility to meet before and after the session at the public restaurant/bar, located in the building. Please let us know if you wish to do so.
